so my school book for one class is still on back order, and already we have an exam. I\'m not the only student with the problem and the course coordinator is unsympathetic. the library doesn\'t carry it (the closest one the does is in CA, I\'m in IN) and none of my fellow classmates are very giving. total crap.

For those of us who use our student loans to buy books, this isn't always possible. Many students don't receive any loan funds until at least a week AFTER classes begin.
OP, have you checked to see if any sites may have an e-book available? If it's an anthology, you may also be able to find the individual articles online.

That is why you buy all the books before classes start. Try amazon or other book places.
