I am curious if any of you are die-hard fanatics for "24." I am so sad that the series ends on Monday, after 8 seasons. My friend wrote a great note about it on Facebook. I will post it below in case you're interested in reading it.

"As we are fast approaching the series finale of my favorite show of all time, I feel it appropriate to discuss the contributions that 24 has made for television over the past 10 years. As you all may remember, the first series of Survivor about, what, 12 years ago?, launched a massive frenzy of reality shows, each more dull, mind numbing, and full of crazy people than the last. Every channel every night was just like a bad day of MTV showing Jersey Shore and Is She Dating Him re-runs. Television had ben ruined and was utterly unwatchable. Enter - 24. When 24 was in production for it's first seasons, executives scoffed at it. They said that American audiences were not capable, not intelligent enough, and had too little attention span to follow a serialized show with an over arching story anymore. The wave of reality trash had convinced executives that there was no one intelligent enogh to watch a show with a story anymore. 24 had the balls to stand up and call their bluff, and its wild success over the past 10 years proved them wrong, and with the success of 24 networks began producing all kinds of TV shows with stories again, everything from Desperate Housewives, to Lost, to Chuck, to etc etc. 24's bold stand and success is the reason we have real television shows again, acorss several genres. If you watcha show with a story, where each season has an over-arching story line that connects across episodes, you owe Jack Bauer your thanks for saving TV from the mindless trash that dominated it for years thanks to Survivor, Big Brother, Jersey Shore etc. I'm sad that 24 is about to end, but this final 2 hours looks like it may be the best episode of any television show ever. Thanks Jack for saving TV from random idiots arguing on an island and fist pumping in clubs."
