Twilight...why the big deal??

Movies and TV
Why are so many teens so completely obsessed with the Twilight series?? I refuse to read the books, let alone watch the movies. I see Wal Mart selling the t-shirts and all of this other propaganda. Let's not even mention Hot Topic. As bad as the trailers for the movie seemed, I did not dare allow myself one minute of subjection to these money goldmines. Anyone seen "Underworld" or the other 2 films spawned from it? Those are great vampyre flicks.

Dude... I agree with you. I don't get the big deal with the main character, he's not all that attractive.
haha! I'm not gona lie, I love Twilight, but I hate the movie. Sure Rob is hot but the movie was a bad representation of the book with Kristen-Can't-Act-For-Beans-Stewart and Super Emo Vamp Rob.
Girls are crazy over the books and since the book was made into a movie, being loyal to the franchise they love it too. I fell in love with Edward because he's just the gentleman that every girl hopes to find and fall in love with. As for Bella, well most girls can relate to her, or want to relate to her because this amazing guy loves her. That's really all. Stephanie Meyers isn't the best author either, her books are just a fun read, that's all there is really. The book has no depth, it's just a story and tweens fall for it (including sad college students :P) I'd really recommend you read the book instead of watching the movie though.
i liked it before it was cool and was actually the one who got my friends into it ha.
lmao joe..ur gf really said "why cant u be like him"
My gf loves Twilight, we saw the movie and she instantly bought all the books............and now she is a Twilight maniac!!!
Her ideas kind of rip off the Buffy and Angel's relationship from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series.
I don't know what the obession is since Bella is one of the weakest female leads I have ever read and her character doesn't really grow. The writing isn't very complex either.
I think people should soon watch Interview with the Vampire, Buffy, or Blade before they can say they've seen a vampire movie.
I haven't seen the second movie but the first one was horrible. Rob Patterson is not at all good looking and Kristen Stewart needs serious acting lessons.
Definitely agree with you there. I wouldn't have such a problem with the fanatics if the acting in the movies or even the books themselves were worthy of all this attention. There are movies/books with a lot more depth and creative ability.
I'm having a hard time why Vampire's are all of a sudden so big right now. True Blood, Twilight, Vampire Diaries, etc...
Sydney, vamps have always been in style...think about Bela Lugosi (actor from the 20s) reaching international stardom because he portrayed Nosferatu. [As an aside, "Nosferatu" translates into "Lord Of The Rats"] Bram Stoker wrote "Dracula" in 1897. "The Lost Boys" film kind of jumpstarted the film craze in the late 80s. "Interview With The Vampire" came out in 1993 and two films later followed, one of which had Aaliyah in "Queen Of The Damned." In my personal opinion, the "Underworld" series showcases vampyres the best.
haha i asked myself that too...still havent read the books but i have heard the second and third books in the series are not bad. but yeah like most people said...the actors are just good looking haha
lol they're not that good looking.
I've watched both movies and read Twilight, New Moon, and the beginning of Eclipse. When I watched Twilight, I was mainly stunned by the imagery of Washington in the background. The lush forests and the coast...so beautiful! The storyline was so shallow that I felt that the screenwriters must have omitted much of the book, so I read it. Wrong. The storyline really is that shallow. It seems to gain a little more depth throughout the series (from what I can tell, even though I haven't read all of the books), but is still very lacking in this respect. It's a cheap form of entertainment, but it is somehow still satisfying. Also, I do happen to find Rob Patterson very attractive...and I have since Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire....but is anyone else annoyed that the makeup artists in the movie paint his face with an opaque, chalky white foundation so that his face is pale, but they don't even extend it all the way down his neck, let alone explain why the rest of his skin is more human-toned? Not to mention the fact that this makeup artistry is not consistent between the two movies? Annoying.
