Well, Family Guy is a comedy that exaggerates parts of real life to make it funny...

i don't believe in god but am open to listen to what religious peoples thoughts

It definately exaggerates real life... sometimes too far but usually just enough that it is funny

See, before I ever came to the US I was almost convinced that FG was just taking it to the limits, over-exaggerating simple events and so on -don't get me wrong, I'm a big fun of the show- especially in the parts when -mostly peter- acts in a totally retarded way. Unfortunately, in the past 4 years, I've been proven so wrong. Just to pose my favorite real-life example: a student of economics wondering in class if they have GDP in other countries... Anyway, still FG is awesome.

Well, you know, I don't think any infant child wants to kill his/her mother. That is the number one reason I avoid the show. I find it vulgar, humiliating and just completely wrong. That is just my opinion, so no need to flame me for it.

FG is way more exaggerated than real life. i think it's more of a farce. it's not supposed to represent real life.

Amanda, it may be hilarious, but consider the message it sends. I used to be all for that kinda junk. When my baby sister, Grace, was born, everything changed for me. I watch everything I say and do around her just because I don't want her picking up bad habits/words now that she is [almost...very near] 2. My mom and I scold my dad a lot of the time because he doesn't watch his language and such. It's funny,though, doing that. Anyhow, that's just my 2 cents.

nono i'm not saying that it's not junk, and i'm not saying that anyone should copy it. actually the opposite, i don't think it should be taken seriously, just as a show that should be laughed at. i definately don't act like peter for example, or take ideas off the show and try to imitate them

I'm of the belief that words are just symbols and only mean what you make it mean. Kids will eventually learn bad language one day, I don't really see a point in keeping it from them.

The longer you can keep it from them, the better. Learned a lot in psychology 2 years ago, regarding children and their impressionable minds. Oh and Amanda, I don't take it personally or offensively.

ok good josh, i don't want to offend you and i understand what you're saying. my parents never let me watch this when i was younger, and even though i watch them now i definately don't talk like they do in the shows, or even have those kind of ideas. on the other hand, since my parents didn't let me watch it, it might be a reason i do now.

Yeah... otherwise kids have a false idea of "reality"

However, I think if they know for a fact that it is false, then they would be more independent later on when telling what is false and what isn't...

I think the point was even though it is a cartoon, kids don't know whether that is really how people act/talk to each other.
