The site was founded to meet an age-old challenge—students need notes from classes that they’ve missed because of athletic events, family emergencies, personal illness, or to supplement their own poorly taken notes. The site also allows students to review past study guides and helps students who struggle with classroom notes, have attention span issues, or don’t understand the concepts of a classroom lecture. The social networking aspect of the site provides the added benefits of group study sessions and real-time blogging.
Any college or tech school student can become a member free of charge, simply by completing a quick, 60-second online registration. The only requirement for registration is that the user must sign-up using their schools .edu email address in order to verify their student status.
The company first launched at the University of Dayton in fall 2007, where students quickly accepted the new tool. In our first year of operation we have built a presence at over 400 colleges and universities. Our database has collected more than 20,000 notes in its first six months, with over 12,000 student members and growing daily.
